"Xingufo” or cloth ball at the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation gallery
"Magias do Pano” is the title of the exhibition inaugurated at the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation, in Maputo City. The work is composed of lines of colored cloth and cloth balls used in traditional games. The idea of celebrating the new contemporary dynamics led artist Amarildo Rungo to find a new way of looking at art by reusing cloth materials that, according to the artist, are seen as useless for many.
For the author, the exhibition is closely linked to his own personality and his experience in the contemporary art world. Xingufo, that is, Bola de pano, took on a new meaning, outside the field. “After the production of “Xingufo”, came the idea of the installation, composed only of fabrics, which balance the balls in space and supported by the wall”. Amarildo Rungo was born in Maputo, having started his artistic activity in 2013 with music, later the plastic arts with painting and drawing in 2015. The installation is open to the public at the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation gallery until the 18th of May.
